Today I played four tables of NL5 fullring. I only played 221 hands in about 1 hour. My nickname when I play is grimpop_87 on pokerstars.
Before I joined the table I had a look on all the available tables on pokerstars. I’m seraching for fishes which I have labeled green, I did find some good tables.
Below you can see how I view a table before I join it on pokerstars. In this case there are 6 fishes, marked green, 2 good players marked red, and 1 unknown player.
Poker tracker results and stats from Pokertracker 4
It was a good and short session where I ended up making $11 profit playing on NL5. To track my results I use the pocker tracker tool named pokertracker 4. It helps me to keep track of how much I’m winning or losing and also keeps stats of the other players. That way it’s much easier to define different player types, such as a fish, regular, nit and so on. If you’re serious about poker I would highly recommend to buy pokertracker 4. During this session I did find a very specific target, a big fish! I have played against this fish many times before and I was very happy to join this poker table.
In this case the fish is located to the left of me. My current poker position is on the small blind, SB. The fish poker position is under the gun, UTG.
Poker PREFLOP
The hand starts by the fish raising to 3.5 big blinds under the gun. Everyone folds until it get’s to me. Now, I’m not in a good position since I’m on the small blind and a player is raising under the gun. Normally you should be very careful when someone raises from UTG. Most poker players usually have a very tight range when playing from UTG. However if I look at this fish he’s raising 29 percent of his hands from early position. A good player would raise about 10% of his hands.
Now back to me, what should I do with my AQo?
Against a normal good player I would just fold it. Since this is a big fish and this player has been going all in preflop with different of crazy hands I decided to call here. Normally I never call from the SB unless I have some low pocket pairs. when playing from the small blind you should aim for 3-betting or folding. But I decided to make an excemption this time since I don’t want to go all in preflop with AQo. I also think that I have a better hand then he has preflop.
As the action goes on we see another player villain 4 who makes a call.
FLOP
The flop comes: 2c, Td, Ad.
The board is quite good for me where I have a top pair with the Ace and a good kicker queen. Villain 5 bets almost potsize. I decided not to fold here, I still have a good hand and I don’t give much credit to this fish player. Villain 4 gets out of the way and folds his hand.
As for villain 5, the fish. I am thinking what he can have in his range. Since he’s opening about 29% of his hands from early position he can have a lot of things but it gets easier when the flop comes. My thinking is that he can have some Ax hand, some broadway hand like Kx or some pocket pairs. He might have a flushdraw but I doubt it. When he bet’s potsize it looks to me that he’s scared and wants me to fold. I think I have the best hand here so therefore I decided to call.
TURN
For turn, the poker card is 3 of spade which doesn’t change much. I still think I have the best hand.
The fish now bets again to almost potsize. If I want to call this I would have about half of my stack size left and if he’s going for a flushdraw and doesn’t have anything yet I want to charge him.
If he wants to see another card he will have to pay big for it. Therefore I decided to shove it all in, I feel quite confident that I have the best hand here against him.
In worst case scenario he might have AK or some other hand like a set or 2 pair. If he’s going for the flushdraw I’m still ahead here.
RIVER
The river card is the ten of clubs.
I have mixed feelings about this card. This crazy player might have a crazy hand like JT here or something similar with a ten. However the good thing is that the flush now has missed, there is no way for him to have flush now. As you might know, I did win this hand and I won $4.75. Now I will let you to try and guess which poker hand he might have had!
In the video below you can see the hand replayed and which poker hand villain 5 had. Did you have his hand in your range?
Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. How do you think I played the hand, you have played it differently?
